It took about 10 hours total to hike to this lava. There were about a dozen other people there when we were. The hike there and back was about 5 miles (measured on our GPS) over uneven lava rock. It was like going up and down 3-foot stairs constantly. We kept asking people we met if they had seen lava, and which direction. Often we were completely alone except for flashlights visible on the horizon. Lava flowing/oozing, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Big Island of Hawaii
