At the end of the developed section of Thurston Lava Tube is a stairway leading back up to ground level. There is also a gate leading to an undeveloped section of lava tube. You will need a flashlight and good walking shoes to exlore this section of the cave. Shortly after Thurston Lava Tube, Crater Rim Road loops back around to the Kilauea Visitor Center where we began our journey.
