Just south of Hana on the Hana Highway is Hamoa Beach. Hamoa Beach is one Maui's most picturesque beaches, but it is small and a bit remote unless you stay at the nearby Hotel Hana-Maui or one of several bed and breakfasts in the area. Offshore is coconut-topped Alau island. This beach can be dangerous when the surf is up. In the summer, when the water is calm (pictured here), this can be an amazing place to swim and sunbathe.
