This is a view from the lanai of cabin number 1, showing the stars (Orion on his side) and the lights of Kihei on the coast far below. Cabin number 1 has the best views, so if you reserve early ask for it. This is not a posh resort, but offers clean and reasonable cabin accomodations, complete with a fireplace for the cold mountain nights. There is also a lodge building behind the restaurant. The rooms in the lodge are a bit plainer and lack the view, but are less expensive and still provide great access to Haleakala National Park.
