Continuing around the island, we turn southward and catch a glimpse inland of the Wailua River. The 20-mile-long Wailua River is the only navigable river in the state of Hawaii. It is fed by Mount Waialeale, a 5,148-foot mountain that is the wettest spot on earth. The tour boat in the photo is probably heading to a place called Fern Grotto, a small cave completely covered with greenery.
