At the northern end of the main road through Waimea Canyon in Kokee State Park is the Kalalau Lookout, which affords a view of the Kalalau Valley on the northwest coast of Kauai. The Kalalau Valley is the western end of Na Pali Coast State Park and the western end of the Kalalau Trail, a rigorous hike along the northern coast of Kauai. Na Pali means "the cliffs."
