Kaena Point State Park is the northernmost of many beach parks along the leeward (western) side of Oahu. It is not easy to get here from the north shore, however. You really have to go south through the center of Oahu almost to Honolulu, then head northwest along the western coast. Since this is the western coast, it makes a beautiful place to watch the sunset. There are dangerous rip currents, sudden drop-offs, and sharks here, so water activities are NOT recommended. Also, this is a remote area; bring your own supplies (esp. water), remain alert, and don't stay after dark.
