Kuhio Beach Park
Kuhio Beach Park, in the south-central Waikiki Beach area, is a beautiful place to swim, surf, and sun. It can be hard to find a spot on the sand, especially in the afternoon, but the water is great. A large shallow area near shore leads out to the surfing area a bit further out. The sand is great here (after all, much of it was trucked in from elsewhere), and you can get surfing lessons. Every night, weather-permitting, a free hula presentation occurs at 6:30 PM (6:00 Nov-Jan). Don't miss this place if you are staying anywhere near Waikiki.
