Malaekahana State Recreation Area is located near the northern end of Oahu's eastern coast. This quiet park is about as far away as you can get (physically and mentally) from the excitement of Waikiki. Here you can rest on a windswept beach and look across the bay to Goat Island. The park includes a 37-acre forested recreation area with picnic tables, camp sites, rustic cabins, and a large pavilion. You will need to plan ahead if you want to stay here; reservations are required.
