This tour of the summit area of Haleakala National Park will begin at the entrance and work up to the summit, concluding with 19 sunrise photos from the summit area. Haleakala is pronounced "HA-lay-A-ka-la," which means "House of the Sun." A ranger once told me that if you say, "HA-lay-a-KA-la" you are saying, "House of Raspberries." I'm not sure this is true, but it makes the point.
