Makena Beach is the premier beach on the southwest coast of Maui. This wide, long beach is also known as "Big Beach" by the locals. People staying in Kihei often drive down to this beach a few miles south. "Small Beach" is located just to the south. People often take off their clothes at "small beach," although this is illegal.
