Hookipa Beach Park is on the north shore of Maui east of Kahului, on the way to the start of the road to Hana. Hookipa can have quite rough surf in the winter and is considered by many to be the top windsurfing spot in the world. Two world-class windsurfing competitions are held here each year. You can watch the professional surfers and windsurfers tackle this rough water from a number of vantage points looking down on the action.
