The Old Lahaina Luau is consistently rated the top luau on Maui, possibly in all of Hawaii. The tickets seem expensive, but you have to remember that you are paying for an outstanding show as well as the cost of a quality buffet. The experience begins when you enter and walk around along the beachfront dining lawn. Artisans greet you as they create a variety of traditional Hawaiian handicrafts. Brief informal hula lessons and a photography station are available. After sunset, the buffet begins. The buffet includes traditional Hawaiian fare like poi and pork cooked on stones in a dirt pirt, but it also includes steak, salmon, and a number of other choices. The show traces the history of Hawaii by presenting a variety of hula dance styles. This event is a great capstone to any Maui vacation experience.
