This tour will begin in the south and mention some of the highlights along the one road heading into the canyon. The first stop after entering Waimea Canyon State Park's southern border is the Iliau Nature Loop. Here there is a short trail with sweeping views into the canyon. Along the trail there are iliau (see photo), a type of plant related to the silversword that grows on Haleakala in Maui.
