Kealakekua Snorkeling
Driving south along the coast from Kona, our first stop will be the Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay. Kealakekua Bay is a large, sometimes calm bay. The northern section of the bay has been set aside as a marine nature preserve, and the snorkeling here is absolutely excellent. However, access is difficult. There are three options: a grueling hike through dense underbrush, an almost 1-mile each way kayak trip, or a trip with a tour company. |
