We begin with this typical view of the coastline near Kona taken from a condo at the Hale Kona Kai. Kona usually has lots of sunshine, because it is on the leeward and dry western coast. This is where most visitors stay. There are a few beaches in Kona itself, but most of the better snorkeling beaches are to the south, while the best swimming beaches are north of here. We'll hit one of them, Hapuna Beach, near the end of our tour.
