Continuing southward along the Kohala Coast, we reach what is perhaps the best swimming beach on the Big Island, and possibly in the entire state: Hapuna Beach. Only about an hour's drive north of Kailua-Kona, this resort and public park has sand like finely-powdered sugar, beautiful sunshine, and normally mild waves.
