Kealakekua Bay
Kealakekua Bay, a mile-wide, sometimes calm bay, is located about 15 miles south of Kailua-Kona town. The northern section of the bay has been set aside as a marine nature preserve, and the snorkeling here is absolutely excellent. However, access is difficult. There are three options: a grueling hike through dense underbrush, an almost 1-mile each way kayak trip, or a trip with a tour company.
