Hawaii is more than just a pretty beach. Each island overflows with natural wonders and fascinating history. There are waterfalls hundreds of feet high, three mountains over 10,000 feet, an important World War II battlefield, royal palaces, world-class gardens, challenging and remote backcountry hikes, deserts, jungles, temperate rainforests, alpine meadows, raw lava fields, and even, in the winter, blizzards (on Mauna Kea on the Big Island).
