Continuing east on Maui's north-central coast, we reach Hookipa Beach. Hookipa Beach can be a dangerous place to swim in the winter months when the surf is up. However, this is a great place to watch experienced surfers in the winter. This beach is home to two world-class competitions in windsurfing, but the conditions are often treacherous and you should leave this to the experts. Kanaha Beach is often a better option for beginning windsurfers.
