The Makapuu Wayside scenic trail begins inauspiciously with a difficult parking job on the roadside a mile or two beyond Sandy Beach. Be extremely careful here as the traffic comes by quickly. This photo shows the view from near the start of the trail looking back toward the southwest. Koko crater, the rim of Hanauma Bay, and Koko Head are visible in the distance.
