The rocky cliffs of Lanai are the result of weathering at the coastline by the ocean. Eventually, the ocean wears away the rocks on the bottom, leaving the unsupported rocks above to tumble into the sea. In this way cliffs are built up over time. This photo shows some younger cliffs being formed.
