This is an aerial shot of Lanai. Lanai is located just west of the island of Maui. You can see in the photo that it is a relatively dry island. This is because it lies in Maui's rain shadow. Lanai lacks the stunning cliffs of Molokai, although the coast of Lanai has its own type of rugged beauty. Lanai City, the main city, is located near the center and highest point of the island. In the past Lanai exported pineapples, but the pineapple farms moved overseas years ago. Today Lanai's largest industry is tourism.
