Leaving the Kilauea Caldera and Thurston Lava Tube area, we turn toward the coast on Chain of Craters Road. Where the road ends, you can often walk out and see lava entering the sea in the distance. This area can be extremely dangerous, so always consult with park rangers about current conditions before venturing out. UPDATE: As of spring 2008, Chain of Craters Road is CLOSED due to dangerous conditions. Always check with rangers for an update on the latest conditions regarding lava flows!
